About LeAnne Woolever
Committed to Positive Change
With a deep-rooted commitment to the youth of Lompoc, I am LeAnne Woolever, and I am running for the Lompoc Unified School District, District 5. My journey in Lompoc spans over 50 years, dedicated to fostering positive change in our community.
A Lifetime in Education and Community Service
Raised in Lompoc, I founded the Surf Connection and later transitioned into a fulfilling career in education. Starting as a school bus driver in 1988 and becoming a Special Education Teacher, I spent 30 years in education, obtaining my Master’s Degree in Special Education in 2005 and retiring in 2017. My passion for teaching and supporting students continues as a board member of Youth Leadership Lompoc Valley (YLLV), where I help students find their passion and pursue exciting careers.
Focus on Improving Education
I am deeply committed to enhancing Lompoc's public education system. Practical solutions are needed to improve educational outcomes and cognitive development for our students. I advocate for:
Increased Vocational, Money Management, and Leadership Courses: To better prepare high school and junior high students for their futures.
Internship Opportunities: To help students explore job interests and develop communication skills.
Addressing Low Academic Scores
Improving academic scores in our district is a top priority. Currently, resources are diverted away from academic improvement by social justice issues. Students need more classroom time with teachers to raise their scores. As a former educator, I understand the importance of supporting our dedicated staff in achieving this goal.
Improving School Infrastructure
Some LUSD school sites are in disrepair and need urgent maintenance. Addressing these issues will restore pride in our schools and create a positive environment for students.
Join My Campaign
To serve the students and families of Lompoc, I will run an aggressive and transparent campaign. I am motivated by the ongoing low-test scores and the lack of vocational courses to offer a new style of leadership that prepares children for real-world success.
